WELCOME TO THE MALL OF AFRICA!
By Vanessa Fourie, Brand Manager, Mall of Africa
I’m completely in love with the concept of Afrika Hadithi, which is Swahili for African Tale. Now this resonates more because of our focus at [Attacq / Atterbury], over the past few years: launching the magnificent Mall of Africa. You see, to me, the Mall of Africa pays homage to our wonderful continent in so many ways: from celebrating Africa’s rich cultural diversity, her natural resources as well as her beautiful stories.
When you walk through the mall, you’ll notice that structurally, the Mall consists of five main courts, each celebrating one of Africa’s gifts: The Oleum Court, which focuses on Africa’s different pampering oils. The Desert Court is the court of time: an opportunity to slow down and to take a moment for yourself. The Court of the Great Lakes, combines relaxation and calm. The Forest Walk, where African trees will ground and center the soul. And finally, the Crystal Court, inspired by the exquisite and unique diamonds and crystals found in Southern Africa.
Our feelings of pride about this development are insurmountable: already the Waterfall City development, within which the Mall is situated, has won 5 international design and architectural awards. The Mall itself is an example of environmental and ergonomic architecture and engineering – the result of principle architect Tia Kanakakis’s design talents.
But what does this mean to a tenant? While working in a world-class environment is aesthetically pleasing, the Mall Of Africa also ensures that the tenants and their teams will find the environment convenient and comfortable. Here’s why:
You can enjoy access to:
• 6 500 parking bays
• 26 different entrances
• 40 escalators in the Mall and within tenant premises
• 49 sets of lifts and hoists, including in stores
• 300 stores
• 130 000m² of retail space
• Over 20 restaurants, coffee shops and take-away options
• Access to a variety of beauty, hair and nail salons
• Major cell phone suppliers
• All the major banks
• Dry cleaners and other convenient services
• Breathing space at Waterfall Park with its abundant seating areas
• Accessibility from either Johannesburg or Pretoria direction, via self-drive, pubic transport or even the Gautrain
And we haven’t even touched on the fabulous line-up of tenants: some of which make their SA debut in the Mall: The Kooples, H&M Home, Armani Exchange, Zara Home and the infinitely fabulous Soap Stories. And I’ve not even started on our anchor tenants like Edgars, Woolworths and the like… And finally, call me a sucker for a great glass of bubbles, but the Monkz Oyster Lounge Bar by Zuri feels like my new favourite after-work spot!
This is the beginning of a new African story, and we are beyond excited about you taking the journey and experiencing this inspiration with us!
